LATEST UPDATE: June 15, 2020 @ 7:12PM
In person church services have resumed. See the note below from Pastor Chuck.
By now you may have heard the announcement that places of worship (churches) are permitted to open for services – as of this Friday (June 12th) at 30% of their seating capacity (the Chatham-Kent fire department says ours is 480) – so on Sunday, June 14th at 10:30am we’ll be celebrating together for the first time in 3 months!
It’s going to be a great day… but at the same time… a very different day.
For a number of different reasons – we’re aiming at having just a one-hour service – in which we’ll be following the guidelines set out by our provincial government.
We won’t be greeting one another the same way that we once did… There will be no physical touching, no handshakes, no hugs. Greetings will be limited to an enthusiastic wave and a warm “Good to see you!”
Our seating will be different… You’ll notice that in our sanctuary every other pew will be cordoned off. In addition, you’ll be asked not to sit at the end of an outside pew – so that we’ll be able to maintain our spacing – even during our entrance and exiting of the building.
Family units will be asked to sit together – and will be separated from other unrelated families by at least 6 feet.
Disposable activity bags will be available to help occupy the kids during the service – but there will be no formal kid’s program (until at least September). Children will be asked to stay seated with their family throughout the service.
In that same vein, access to the nursery will be limited to nursing mothers.
The upstairs bathrooms will be open, but will need to be sanitized following each usage… so in consideration of our custodian – please go, before you come!
As well, hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building – and you’ll be encouraged to use it. Handrails will be wiped down after each usage.
Now, you may be reading all this and wondering why we need all of these extra precautions(?). First, we’re doing this to obey the law. And secondly, we’re doing this to protect our Church Family. We have many attenders who would be classed as more vulnerable – so we want to look out for them- and do all in our power to keep them safe.
In closing, let me clarify that although they are not mandatory – if you would feel more comfortable wearing a mask and gloves during the service – please do so.
We’re looking forward to seeing you all again!
P.S. For those who are not yet prepared to attend services, please note that we will continue to post Sunday services on-line.
Although in person services are suspended, the cost to operate our facility and continue the ministry that God has called us to in Wallaceburg still relies on your faithful, financial support.
